Hello ,
Please pardon the mid-month email, but I wanted to call your attention to two important news items.
First, and most important, Digital Railroad, the popular stock
photography and image storage site, has suspended operations and has shut down its site. This afternoon, the Stock Artists Alliance (SAA) released a bulletin urging all Digital
Railroad members to:
- Ensure all of your data on the site is backed up
- Download details of all licenses with outstanding royalties due
- Download a list of registered users who have accessed your Archive
- Check that monthly or annual fees do not continue to be billed to your credit card.
Of greatest importance are the first two points. According to the SAA release, files on Digital Railroad's servers may
only be available for the next 24-hours. Since one of the stated purposes of Digital Railroad was to act as an online file storage service for
photographers we feel it is important that member photographers are made aware of the potential loss of one element of their backup strategy.
For more information, visit the Stock
Artists Alliance Web site.
On a lighter note, I am beginning a new series on by blog titled "30 days of Photoshop CS4" where I highlight a new feature in Adobe Bridge or Adobe Photoshop every day for a month.
My aim is to help new CS4 users get up to speed quickly and begin taking advantage of new workflow tools and techniques.
In the meantime, we're cooking up more workflow goodness for the November issue. If you have any features or topics
you'd like to see covered, please drop me a line.
Best regards,
Jay
