Jay Kinghorn's Blog
The biggest news this month, aside from that whole Creative Suite 4 thing, is the official launch of my new blog!
Every month, I have far more links, tips, articles and ideas than I can pack into an E-newsletter. The blog allows me to share these with you in a more timely and conversational
manner.
Adobe CS 4: Announcement of an Announcement
Adobe recently announced their announcement
of
Creative Suite 4 will take place on September 23rd. That's right, it's just an announcement, to tell us when
we'll be able to see the next
versions of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash and more.
If you want a little teaser, Terry White has posted a video of John Nack's Photoshop demo at Photoshop World.

At Last, At Last, A Dream Fulfilled
The Rocky Mountain News and Media Storm produced a compelling
video examining Barack
Obama's historic speech at the DNC in Denver and what it means to Coloradoans.
Compelling Panoramas
We've all seen beautiful QuickTime VR panoramas which allow you to scroll back and forth through the photo. The NY Times has taken this approach one
step farther by adding audio to accompany the visuals. These panoramas of Barack Obama's speech at the
DNC last week and the view from the
10-meter platform at the Olympic Water Cube in Beijing are more engaging than their silent counterparts. In these examples, audio, describing the
visuals provides more than the audio alone.
When Multiple Images Are Better Than One
The links below highlight a few of the many examples where multi-image photography is used to push the creative and
technical boundaries of photography. While the power of a single photo remains unchanged the techniques used to realize that photo are changing
rapidly.

For several years photographers have been working to Improve the results they get from Adobe Camera Raw's default color
and tone settings. Too often Reds turn orange or blue skies go gray.
Adobe recently introduced the DNG Profile Editor to solve these problems and give you the ability to quickly fine-tune ACR's baseline color for a
more reliable workflow or to produce a specific "look" to match your artistic aspirations.
The DNG Profile Editor is used for two primary reasons.
1) Improve the default tone and color from ACR in Photoshop and Lightroom
2) Improve the accuracy of specific colors for product, catalog and advertising
photography.
This tutorial will focus on improving your baseline color and tone in ACR, but will give you the
tools to improve the accuracy of specific colors as well.
